Effective June 30, 2024, MTN Ghana will phase out the scratch cards introduced in 2020. Customers with unused scratch cards will not be able to recharge them after July 1, 2024.

In a statement on Thursday, May 23, 2024, Chief Sales and Distribution Officer Samuel Addo announced that customers can redeem the value of their scratch cards via Credit transfer at any MTN Customer Experience Centre.

MTN explained that this initiative supports their strategy to lead digital solutions in Ghana and aligns with the Government of Ghana’s digitalisation agenda.

Addo also mentioned that discontinuing the scratch cards aims to protect the environment, empower customers to embrace digital usage, and enhance the efficiency of customer service delivery.

‘’Phasing out the scratch cards is one of the steps we are taking to protect the environment, empower customers to embrace digital usage, and enhance the efficiency of our customer service delivery.’’

In a statement, MTN encouraged customers to continue using existing digital channels such as MoMo, Ayoba, and the myMTN app to recharge.

“To support a clean environment, customers receive a 50% bonus on all recharges made through Mobile Money.
