Fix for inconsistent internet coverage

Over the past five days, Ghanaians relying on internet services for their daily tasks have experienced considerable disturbances caused by a severed undersea cable. This interruption has resulted in erratic and undependable internet connections, leaving users irritated and vulnerable to the unreliable service.

According to the NCA’s confirmation, Ghanaians experiencing disruptions in their data services from providers might need to endure another five weeks of waiting. This estimate is based on the National Communication Authority’s projection of the time required for the restoration of the faulty undersea cables, which is crucial for bringing back reliable connections in the affected regions.

The NCA announced this information through a press release on Saturday, March 16, 2024. This announcement followed a meeting with four subsea cable landing service providers (ACE, MainOne, SAT-3, and WACS). It comes after a three-day shutdown of data services by most telecommunications companies, affecting individuals and businesses in several African countries, including Ghana. Other nations affected include South Africa, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Benin, and Burkina Faso.
